“Because I love you more than anything”

Hello!! Kin-iro Mosaic is the sequel of Kin-iro Mosaic TV anime in 2013. The reception of the first TV Series seems to be quite good in Japan. The second season was aired in Spring 2015, specifically from April 6, 2015 to June 22, 2015 with total number episode of 12. The story is the continuation of the first season. New supporting characters were introduced in the second season to bring more excitement in the story.

Following the ending of the first season, Shino and Alice were separated in different classes in their second year. Yoko and Aya also have to face the same fate. Now, Shino is in the same class with Aya and Karen while Alice is in the same class with Yoko. The homeroom teacher in Shino’s class is Kuzehashi-sensei. She is much more strict than Karasuma-sensei who used to be Shino’s homeroom teacher when she was in first year. Karen also have a close friend now in the same class, Honoka. Honoka is just like Shino, a fan of blonde hair. And about the story, it has a lot more comedy than the first season while still maintaining the deep feeling of friendship. Hello!! Kin-iro Mosaic brings me back the smile and laugh I’ve lost since watching Non Non Biyori last year.

While the story feels really excellent, the animation is not that impressive. It’s still good but not special at all for me. Yes, it shows an artistic environment but the detail and lighting is lacking. Compared to the first season, I barely see any improvement. The character design is still the same and that is a good thing. I like the character design. It’s cute and fits the atmosphere of the story nicely.

In terms of music, I feel it quite excellent. Yes, I really like the music. The music feels really strong in the anime. The Background music that sounds heartwarming and fits the scene really well. The opening and ending theme is still performed by Rhodanthe* which consists of 5 main seiyuu in the anime. They are Nishi Asuka, Tanaka Manami, Taneda Risa, Uchiyama Yumi, and Touyama Nao. The opening theme is “Yumeiro Parade” and the ending theme is “My Best Friend”. I’d say Rhodanthe* performed really well in studio recording and I really fall in love with them. I truly hope they still perform even without Kin-iro Mosaic anime. One thing that disappoints me is the lack of Rhodanthe*’s music video for the opening and ending theme. I really want to see them more.

All of the main characters from the first season are making their appearance again in the second season. 4 new supporting characters were introduced in the second season. They are Kuzehashi-sensei, Honoka, Kouta, and Mitsuki. Kuzehashi-sensei is the new homeroom teacher of Shino, Aya, and Karen. Honoka is a classmate of Shino, Aya, and Karen. Kouta and Mitsuki are the younger brother and sister of Yoko. I’ll try to make a separate article about the characters later.

Overall, I really like the story of Hello! Kin-iro Mosaic. For all 2015 anime, I’ve watched, Hello! Kin-iro Mosaic stands at the topmost, beating One Punch Man and THE IDOLM@STER CINDERELLA GIRLS. Visual is the only thing that feels a bit lacking in Hello!! Kin-iro Mosaic. But they make it up with an impressive happy story and excellent music. I really appreciate it.
